Altered Book Workshop

In this workshop we will use collage and embellishment to turn old books into interactive works of art. Altered book artists like to say there are no rules. To that I would add this is an opportunity to experiment and have fun!

I will provide books to alter for everyone in class. Each student will make a reference book so they have a permanent record of the techniques demonstrated. I will teach various ways to add color and texture to a page. We will do pockets, slits and pull-outs, tip-ins (add in pages), niches, windows, and drawers, transparencies, and many different kinds of pop- ups. We’ll discuss various glues and paints, and the types of books that work best for this art form.

I will have examples of my altered books with me. This class is suitable for all levels.

Class fee $140.00
Saturday September 25 & October 2 (2 session class)
